cryptography service providers

The Department of Communications will host a workshop with cryptography
service providers to explain and clarify the processes of registering with the
Department to ensure compliance with the Electronic Communications and
Transactions Act of 2002. The Minister of Communications, Dr Ivy
Matsepe-Casaburri and Director-General, Ms Lyndall Shope Mafole will hand over
certificates to all registered cryptography services providers at the
ceremony.
The workshop will be held as follows:

The Electronic Communications and Transaction Act provides that the
Department of Communications keep a register of all cryptography service
providers in the country to ensure legal certainty and confidence in electronic
transactions. The register also contributes to the development of a safe,
secure and effective environment for the consumer, business and government to
conduct and use electronic transactions and to ensure that a national interest
of the public is not compromised through the use of electronic
communications.
