MEC Jacobs opens centre to empower contractors

Gauteng Department of Public Transport, Roads and Works MEC, Ignatius
Jacobs, will officially open the Onsite Construction Contact Centre on Monday,
10 April 2006, at the Funda Community Centre in Diepkloof.

The main objectives of Onsite Construction Contact Centres are aimed to
empower small, medium and micro enterprise (SMME) contractors in the
construction sector.

The centres will be linked across Gauteng each offering a full range of
assessment, advisory, certification, registration, training, financial,
administration, communication and networking services from level one to four
SMME contractors to enable them to become registered entities on the
Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) database as well to attain
further statutory registrations.
