The South African Human Rights Commissionâs high level delegation led by the
Chairperson, Jody Kollapen, CEO Advocate Tseliso Thipanyane, will be visiting
the central town of Bloemfontein in the Free State from Wednesday, 30 August to
Friday, 1 September 2006.
The purpose of the visit is to assess the work of the Commission in the Free
State and to meet with some important stakeholders in the province.
The delegation will amongst others meet on a one to one with key people in
the province including the Premier, Beatrice Marshoff and members of the
provincial executive council in the Justice, Education and Health
departments.
This exercise is the Commissionâs strategic way of taking human rights
issues to the people and ensuring access to human rights in the country.
Against this background a media briefing session has been scheduled for 30
August 2006 from 14h00 to 14h30.
The media briefing will be held at the Commissionâs offices, 2 Elizabeth
Street, 1st Floor NBS Building, and Bloemfontein.
