In line with the spirit of love prevalent on Valentine's Day (14 February
2006), the Department of Home Affairs will conduct marriages at the Robben
Island Museum in Cape Town.
Since the inception of the initiative in 2000, the former prison has been
transformed into a romantic rendezvous on Valentine's Day by couples from all
over the world eager to tie the knot in a unique style. Over 100 marriages have
been conducted at the Museum.
