The National Health Promotions together with National Community Radio Forum,
recently held a workshop on Health Radio Education Programme at the Bhisho
Hospital.
The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the health promoters to a
contract signed between the Department of Health and the National Community
Radio Forum where four health topics are going to be discussed every month in
every participating community radio station and to improve communication
between radio stations and the department.
Health promotion managers, community liaison officers and representatives
from community radio stations attended the workshop and were from the National
Department of Health, the province, local service areas and district
offices.
A representative from the National Community Radio Forum, Mr Mpho Mhlongo
made a presentation of how the radio stations operated and encouraged the
department to make use of the community radios as they had the most
listenership in the province.
Mr Mhlongo also encouraged health promotion managers to delegate programme
managers who are working hands on with programmes to go to radio interviews as
they have the expertise on those programmes.
