Media reports that Health Minister Dr Manto Tshabalala-Msimang has resumed
some of her duties are inaccurate.
Minister Tshabalala-Msimang is receiving regular briefings on the activities
of the Department of Health since she was discharged from Johannesburg General
Hospital last month. Some of these briefings have happened at her home and
others in the office, both of which are in Pretoria.
Minister Tshabalala-Msimang has recovered significantly since she underwent
a successful elective liver transplant on Wednesday, 14 March 2007. Minister
Jeff Radebe remains the acting Minister of Health. No decision has been taken
thus far on when Minister Tshabalala-Msimang will resume her duties as the
Minister of Health.
