Health to host National Malaria Conference, 12 to 14 Jun

National Malaria Conference

Media is reminded of the National Malaria Conference that is scheduled to
take place in Durban as follows:
Date: 12 to 14 June 2007
Venue: Tropicana Hotel, Durban

Theme: "Innovative malaria control through research and dynamic policy"

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the conference that
starts in Durban from Tuesday until Thursday, 12 to 14 June 2007.

The conference, held jointly by the national Department of Health and its
provincial KwaZulu-Natal counterpart brings together researchers and experts in
the public and the private sector as well as representatives from the Southern
African Development Community (SADC) States with a view to sharing information
on new developments around the prevention and cure of malaria. The following
are some of the key issues that the conference will deal with:
* vector control
* health promotion
* case management
* disease surveillance plans and response.

The conference will also identify key research areas that can further enrich
South Africa's malaria control policy.
