Sharpeville Clinic nurse dismissed

The disciplinary case against a Sharpeville Clinic nurse, who bathed a newly
born baby in hot water which resulted in the baby's death on 23 May 2006, has
been finalised.
The nurse was dismissed on Friday, 13 October 2006, after she was found
guilty of gross negligence.
The Gauteng Department of Health would like to send a strong message that it
is committed to acting decisively whenever acts of negligence are committed
against patients.
