Negotiations on the Health Charter begins

A negotiating team formed to discuss the draft Charter for the health sector
started its work by further engaging on the content of the Charter during a two
day meeting held in Midrand from 9 to 10 March.

The negotiating team is made up of three representatives plus two observers
from each of the following constituencies:
* Pharmaceutical manufacture industry
* Private hospitals
* Health financing industry
* Health support service
* Labour
* Civil society
* Health professionals
* And public health sector

Hopefully, the team will within the next four to six weeks be able to
produce a final draft of the Charter that will be considered for adoption by
role players in the sector.

The media will be updated further on the progress of these negotiations.
