North West MEC for Public Works, Honourable Howard Yawa, is to launch his
departmentâs programme for Construction Week on Thursday, 27 July, with the
handover of the newly built Father Smangaliso Comprehensive High School at
Slovoville in Winterveldt.
The completion of the R9,5 million School Building Project three months
ahead of schedule entrenches the trend of accelerated delivery and service
excellence that have in recent years become the trademark of the
department.
The Provincial Programme for Construction Week, which is from 27 July to 3
August 2006, also includes the handover of Reabetswe Secondary School in
Ipeleng Township near Schweizer-Reneke, visits to learning institutions to
encourage learners to follow careers in the built and construction sectors,
visits to construction sites by youth and a meeting with consultants and
contractors.
The National Construction Week is a nation-wide awareness campaign to
promote the image and profile of the construction sector, so as to give young
learners the opportunity to experience a wide range of exciting opportunities
available in todayâs built environment and construction sector.
