North West MEC for Public Works, Honourable Mr Howard Yawa, announced the
establishment of a trust for impoverished 11 year-old girl, Mosetsana Setai by
the Department's private partner, Maxima Global, during the Department's
2005/06 MEC's Excellence Awards function held last Friday.
The little girl from Setlagole village survived a terrible fire accident
that left her orphaned and facially badly disfigured when she was three months
old. The trust is meant to raise funds for reconstructive surgery for the
little girl's face and to provide for her basic necessities including food,
clothing, and other medical expenses. This will enable her to attend school and
socialise with other children and eventually be integrated into society.
Thalitha Boikhutso, a representative of Maxima Global presented Mosetsana
Setai with a cheque of R24 000 and pledged a further contribution of R24 000
towards the trust for two more years.
Moved by the little girl's touching ordeal and desperate condition, Willie
Webb Construction /Marang M Joint Venture and Mr Otsile Kole (an employee of
the Department) also pledged contributions of R24 000 and R1000 respectively
towards the Trust.
MEC Yawa commented Maxima Global for the initiative and called upon other
stakeholders to contribute towards the trust.
