The North West MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing, Howard
Yawa, will tomorrow address a community meeting in Maquassi Hills. MEC Yawa
will give feedback on the process followed towards the presentation of the
final report of an independent commission of inquiry appointed in response to a
memorandum received on 3 April 2007 from a group of unemployed youth in the
area.
The meeting follows the conclusion of statutory investigations into
allegations of nepotism, tender irregularities and the contract extension of
the office term of the Municipal Manager levelled against the Maquassi Hills
Local Municipality.
Last week, Yawa met with representatives of the concerned groups of
Leeudoringstad, Lebaleng and Tswelelang to brief them on the process to unfold
before the final report can be tabled to the Council of the Municipality and
its subsequent release to the community.
