The Deputy Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Nkosi Phathekile Holomisa, will on Friday, 24 November 2023, officially opening a new pharmacy at Goedemoed Correctional Facility, Free State Province.
This is a momentous occasion for Correctional Services as it represents a significant step towards ensuring the well-being and rehabilitation of offenders. The importance of providing comprehensive healthcare to inmates has to be recognised as a pharmacy is not merely a dispensary of medications, but a vital component of a holistic approach to inmate care.
The day’s programme will start with a walk-about and inspecting the self-sufficiency and sustainability projects within the Goedemoed Correctional Facility. The implementation of sustainable practices is having a positive impact on the environment, cost savings, and rehabilitation efforts by the Department of Correctional Services.
Deputy Minister Holomisa will be joined by Mayors of Gariep District Municipality and Mohokare Local Municipality.
