Violence, 2 May

Introduction of the 365 Days of Action against Gender and
Child-directed Violence

26 April 2006

Media are invited to a media briefing and launch of the 365 Days of Action
against Gender and Child-directed Violence on Tuesday, 2 May 2006. This concept
emanates from an identified national need to make the 16 Days of Activism
Campaign a year-long initiative.

Media will be briefed on the strengthened campaign against gender and
child-directed violence as well as the national conference that will take place
from 3 to 5 May 2006. The workshop will be hosted under the theme of “365 days
of action to end gender and child-directed violence” at the end of which a
declaration for ending violence against women and children will be signed.
