construction
3 August 2006
As part of the Enabling Works in preparation for the construction of the
Gautrain, several utilities companies, in partnership with Gautrain, are
embarking on the relocation of utilities at future station sites.
The utilities relocation includes the removal of power lines, gas pipes as
well as water pipes to mention a few. In anticipation of such works, Gautrain
will embark on several scheduled utilities disruptions for the next few months
as part of initial works.
The first of such scheduled disruptions will take place on Sunday, 13 August
2006 from 07h00 to 19h00 in and around the Sandown area resulting in a total
water shutdown. The laying of new water supply pipelines on the east of Rivonia
Road has already been completed. The scheduled water disruption will be the
next phase to allow for the switch-over of the new connections to the existing
water line in 5th and West Streets which consists of five connections in
total.
The Gautrain team apologises for the inconvenience caused during this period
and encourages residents to report any major incidents to the Gautrain toll
free number 0800 Gautrain (0800 428 872 46).
