The Gauteng Department of Public Transport, Roads and Works will issue 1 000
new operating licences to mini bus taxi operators in the District Municipality
Region of West Rand, at the venue as indicated below:

Venue: Imbizo Room, Randfontein Municipal Offices
This issuance is part of the Taxi Recapitalisation Programme and will see an
18 month roll out of more than 46 000 new licences throughout Gauteng,
following a highly successful application drive by both the department and taxi
associations.
These new licences will be route based and this brings a tremendous
departure from the old radius based permits that led to many disputes over
routes.
