Members of the media are invited to cover the Premier's Service Excellence
Awards 2007 on Thursday, 22 November 2007. The Premier's Service Excellence
Awards (PSEA) seek to recognise and honour service excellence in providing
services to the public, as well as service delivery innovation in developing
new and better ways to improve service delivery. This year's theme is "A better
Gauteng is in the making".
The initiative is linked to the Gauteng government's drive over the next
five years to build an effective and caring government. It is part of a broader
package of measures to boost public service performance and build a modern and
dynamic civil service in the province which is responsive to citizens' needs
and able to effectively address the challenges of the second decade of
democracy.
The prestigious awards are a means for the province to encourage the
principles of Batho Pele, putting people first. There is no prize money
attached to the awards, but civil servants get recognition from the Premier and
the entire provincial government for their efforts.
