The Gauteng Department of Health will host an AIDS Candlelight Memorial in
Tshwane on Friday, 25 May 2007, targeting non-governmental organisations and
high school learners.
The event is aimed at increasing awareness on HIV and AIDS and Tuberculosis
for affected and infected people and aligning the department's objectives with
the National Government strategy for 2011. Part of the strategy is to reduce
the HIV infection rate by 50% by 2011.
The theme for this year's Candlelight Memorial is "Leading the way to a
world without AIDS."
