Gauteng embarks on National Imbizo Focus Week, 23 to 31 Oct

Gauteng government embarks on National Imbizo Focus Week: 23 -
31 October 2006

23 October 2006

The Premier and several Ministers, MECs and Mayors will visit various
communities in Gauteng as part of the Imbizo Focus Week programme of direct
interaction with the public.

The week marks a period of intensified activity where all spheres of
government (national, provincial and local), interact with communities across
the country. During this period the Imbizo will focus on the economic
empowerment of communities to ensure self-sustainability and financial
independence as well as strengthening government systems to accelerate service
delivery.

It also promotes participation by the public in programmes that aim to
improve their lives. To this end, the Premier, Ministers, MECs and Mayors will
listen to people's concerns and view projects that aim to improve their living
conditions.
