Robbers paralyse Gauteng Education Department
2 October 2006
More than 20 armed robbers paralysed the Gauteng Department of Education
when they robbed the department of more than 120 computers in strategic units
last night.
The heavily armed robbers entered the 111 Commissioner Street building in
Johannesburg between 21h00 and 23h00 and took computers and other valuables,
effectively paralysing the department.
Johannesburg Central police is investigating the incident.
"We condemn this senseless act as it has the potential to delay major
departmental operations thus affecting children in the classroom," said Gauteng
MEC for Education Angie Motshekga.
