Following the successful first round of the annual pupils' consumer rights
competition, which kicked off in October 2006, the Gauteng Office of Consumer
Affairs will host the finals this weekend.
The aim of the competition and the implementation of the school curriculum
are to encourage learners from a young age to be assertive and informed
consumers. The finalists are eight schools from eight Gauteng districts who
have won their respective district competitions. The schools will be competing
for prizes worth R51 000.
