The Gauteng Department of Economic Development will honour the contribution
of women in the growth and development of the Gauteng economy when it hosts the
passing of the torch event on Thursday, 30 November 2006.
The event will pay tribute to women who are making their mark in the fields
of finance, infrastructure development, film, tourism and hospitality, trade,
services and manufacturing.
MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs, Paul Mashatile, will announce winners
in all these categories.
The winners, who will each receive R20 000 from ABSA, will be "torch
bearers" for 12 months after which they will pass on the torch to other women
who would have been nominated for next year's event. The torch symbolises the
role these women will be playing in lighting the way and motivating others to
follow in their footsteps.
The details of the event are as follows:
Date: Thursday, 30 November 2006
Time: 17h00 for 18h00
