82 traffic officers qualify at Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Training
College

28 June 2007

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety will host a pass out parade for
82 learner traffic officers at the Boekenhoutkloof Traffic Training College,
reputable for training local, metro, district council and traffic officers
across the continent.

This passing out parade takes place five months after the learner traffic
officers started training for a Traffic Officer's Diploma. This is the first
time the Department of Community Safety provided learnerships within the Chief
Directorate Traffic Management.

The learners were subjected to a 12 month contract divided into one part
theory, one part basics and another part on practical exposure on the road.
This is one of the initiatives that will enable the province to reach its
target of reducing road crashes and fatalities by 30% on Gauteng roads as set
out by Premier Mbhazima Shilowa.
