(MOU) with the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA)

Public Service and Administration Minister, Ms Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi is
to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Japan International Co-operation
Agency (JICA) on the Training of Trainers' Programme for Capacity Building of
Management Development Institutes in Africa on Tuesday, 20 February 2007.
Through the South African Management Development Institute (SAMDI), the
partnership between the South African Government and JICA aims to improve the
capacity of the public service in Africa through the establishment of a network
of capable trainers, with focused curriculum and training materials that are
responsive to today's needs. The programme will cater for at least 200 trainers
from management development institutes representing the five regions of the
African continent and will enable them to impart needed knowledge, skills and
expertise for public servants.
The Trainers' Programme is in support of the New Partnership for Africa's
Development (NEPAD) Governance and Public Administration Programme and the
African Management Development Institutes Network (AMDIN).
