Preparations for the 2006 Africa Public Service Day under
way

The Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Geraldine
Fraser-Moleketi, will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia, Hon Dr
Libertina Amathila on Friday, 10 February 2006.

Issues affecting the Public Service in the two countries will top the
agenda, including the celebrations of the Africa Public Service Day, held
annually on 23 June.

The celebrations form part of the Pan-African Ministers of Public Service
and Administration's programme. Minister Fraser-Moleketi is the Chairperson of
the fifth Pan-African Conference of Ministers of Public Service and
Administration, while Namibia serves on the sub-committee established to
enhance celebrations of the Africa Public Service Day on the continent.

Last year's Africa Public Service Day celebrations were in Parliament,
universities of Pretoria, Fort Hare, Stellenbosch, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and
Bloemfontein; Multi-Purpose Community Centre of Namahadi in the Free State and
the Department of Social Development in Bisho, Eastern Cape.

Under the theme, "The Role of the State in the Reconstruction of Africa",
the 2005 celebrations took the format of high-level panel discussions with
participants from fields such as politics, practitioner, academic, communities,
opinion makers and students. Representatives from several African countries,
including Prime Minister Nahas Angula of Namibia, took part the
discussions.

The media is invited to a briefing after Minister Fraser-Moleketi's meeting
with Deputy Prime Minister Amathila of Namibia. The briefing will be held as
