Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) conversation

Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, who
also serves as President of the Commonwealth Association of Public
Administration and Management, invites all media to a major international
seminar, focusing on "Building the Academic/Practitioner Interface in South
African Public Administration."
Scheduled for 16 to 19 April 2007 at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset
West, the seminar will attract eminent academics, practitioners and ministers
from South Africa and various Commonwealth nations. The goal of this
Conversation is to further strengthen the relationship between the South
African public administration academics, as well as consulting community and
senior practitioners through the medium of a Commonwealth dialogue.
The first two days of the summit (16 and 17 April 2007) will see a closed
meeting of the CAPAM board members to discuss CAPAM's strategic objectives and
how they can further deepen the role of the association in public sector reform
among member countries. The seminar is a partnership between the Department of
Public Service and Administration's Annual Public Management Conversation and
CAPAM.
Academics and practitioners will, from the 18th to the 19th of April 2007,
engage with the theme "Building the Academic/Practitioner Interface in South
African Public Administration." The seminar will have different panels that
will focus on public administration strategies, including:
* accessing the quality and scope of the current
interface/relationship
* navigating the continuum in terms of research, consultancy, practising public
administration and governance
* navigating the continuum in terms of training and education, organisational
development and practising public administration.
The CAPAM board members, representing public administrations and academics
from across the Commonwealth, will infuse the sessions with their vast
international experience and knowledge. The seminar will be open to the media
as follows:
