The United Nations and African Union to join Africa Public
Service Day celebrations

The Minister for Public Service and Administration, Ms Geraldine
Fraser-Moleketi, will celebrate the Africa Public Service Day on Friday, 23
June 2006, with her counterparts from African countries.

The Africa Public Service Day celebrations take the form of high level panel
discussions with involvement from political and academic communities as well as
other opinion makers.

Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mr Alpha Oumar Konare, will
give a message of support which will lead to dialogue on this year's theme,
"Building an ethical Public Service for improved service delivery in
Africa."

The United Nations (UN), African Union (AU) and countries like Namibia,
Swaziland, Lesotho and Mauritius will be linked to South Africa via satellite
for a live interactive dialogue.

The Africa Public Service Day is celebrated annually on 23 June across the
continent to recognise the value and virtue of service to the community.

All media is invited to the Africa Public Service Day dialogue, which will
be conducted as follows:
