The Minister of Public Service and Administration, Geraldine
Fraser-Moleketi, will make a major announcement regarding GEMS at a press
briefing in Parliament, Cape Town, on Wednesday, 8 November 2006. GEMS is a
public-servants-only medical scheme, which was launched in January 2006.
