Technology (GovTech) conference

Public Service and Administration Minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi invites
all media to the inaugural Government Technology (GovTech) conference, to be
held from 30 October to 03 November 2006 in Sun City, North West province.
Minister Fraser-Moleketi will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, 30
October 2006, at the conference which is hosted by the State Information
Technology Agency (SITA). GovTech will be a premier annual Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) event for the public sector.
The conference will kick-off with an Executive Leadership Forum to be held
on 30 October 2006. The event will bring together leading practitioners in the
field of Information Technology (IT) from across all sections of society.
By bringing together key role-players from around the world, GovTech 2006
will establish a framework for how ICT can be applied in the public sector to
enhance the delivery of public services.
The event will also set the stage for how South Africa can develop its own
best practices in the area of ICT. The leadership forum will consider what
programmes are needed to create a climate that stimulates innovation and
creativity, what new legislation will be required to enable businesses to
operate in a growing and vibrant economy.
