The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in partnership with Showtime
Boxing Promotions, which is run by the first female promoter, Mbali Zantsi,
will present a 'Free State Comes Alive' boxing tournament as follows:
Date: 22 June 2007
Time: 19h00
Venue: Mangaung Indoor Sport Centre
The tournament, to be attended by the Minister of Sport, the national
portfolio committee on sport and other dignitaries, comes after a long period
of lull in the boxing arena in the Free State. It promises to be a launching
pad for the development and advancement of boxing in the province.
Some of the boxers to be featured are the following: Johnny Oliphant (Free
State); Siyamcela Gegesi (Eastern Cape); Xola Ntese (Gauteng); Siyanda Mfundisi
(North West). Two ladies bouts will also be featured.
The entrance fee for the adults is R40 and for students and children is R20.
Students are requested to bring their student cards along.
