The Department of Health and the Bureau for the Prevention of Blindness will
be conducting a Cataract marathon. The Bureau for the Prevention of Blindness
is the eye care division of the South African National Council for the Blind.
The non-governmental organisation (NGO) is working in partnership with the Free
State Department of Health in eye care services.
The objective of the bureau tours or visit is to support the province to
increase access to eye care services to under-served communities and reduce
preventable blindness by conducting blind tours. Cataract operations provision
of eye medication and spectacles will be provided according to the memorandum
of agreement. Details of the event are as follows:
