The situation regarding the delivery of essential health services in the
Free State province is under control. The Free State Department of Health has
been experiencing isolated incidents of disruption of support services in
hospitals but all our critical services such as intensive care units (ICUs) and
maternity wards are functioning normally.
We would like to reassure the community that contingency plans are in place
to deal with any occurrence. The South African National Defence Force deployed
personnel in various support categories including medical personnel to assist
with service delivery in affected areas. In terms of the national decision,
letters of termination of employment are being issued to affected
employees.
