A Rural Health Expo will take place on Saturday, 4 November 2006, at the De
Oude Kraal Country Estates. The programme will start with delivering services
from 08h00 till 10h00. At 10h00 the formal programme will start. The target
group for the event will be 200 farm community members and other stakeholders.
The main focus or slogan will be "Sediba" - which means "Fountain of Knowledge"
- this will be in line with the new District Newsletter that will be launched
soon.
The purpose will be to promote and render the services of the Department of
Health to the rural community, but also to build capacity and establish a
mobile clinic committee in the De Oude Kraal community.
Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and other non-governmental
organisations (NGOs) will be involved as well as the Private Hospital Section.
Services that will be rendered are Oral Health Screening, Primary Healthcare
services, school health services, nutrition, health promotion, community
development and screening by CANSA. The formal programme will also include
talks on Nutrition, Diabetes, HIV and Teenage Pregnancy as well as Pre-School
Education and Violence against Women and Children. Between each item a lucky
draw will be done and the children will be entertained by the CANSA Toktokkie
and will also each receive an educational game.
