Free State to celebrate World Health Day, 7 Apr

World Health Day

5 April 2006

The World Health Day event will start with a health walk, which will
commence at 09h00 from Leinaeng Library, previously known as Mulakgoro Library,
at Phahameng Location to Mangaung Indoor Sport Centre. The formal programme
will start at 11h00.

World Health Day is celebrated annually on 7 April. 2006 World Health Day’s
theme is “Working together for health”, the hope is that this will encourage
all stakeholders - policy makers, international donors, politicians, health
professionals, academia, civil society, faith-based organisations, media - to
unite and work together to strengthen the health workforce.

The focus of 2006 World Health Day will be on health workers as human
capital that supports quality health services. The day will be celebrated in
conjunction with Occupational Health and Safety and the implementation of the
Employee Assistance Programme. The Department of Health invited all sister
departments and social partners in Free State to join in this programme. On
this day around the globe, hundreds of organisations will host events to draw
attention to the global health workforce crisis and celebrate the dignity and
value of working for health.
