Tshwane - The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that four South
Africans lost their lives in the Bahrain ferry disaster. Seven South Africans
were reported safe after receiving medical treatment at the local hospital.
In this regard the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma
extends South Africa's heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased
and those of other foreign nationals who worked for the Murray & Roberts
Company. âIndeed our thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying
moment," said Minister Dlamini Zuma.
Ambassador Abdulhamied Gabier, South Africa's representative to Saudi
Arabia, accredited to Bahrain is currently working with the Bahrain
authorities, Murray & Roberts company officials at the Bahrain crisis
centre to render consular assistance supported by embassy officials. The
process of recovery is still continuing and some bodies remain
unidentified.
