Foreign Affairs on comments by George W Bush on SA assisting
Iraq

Pretoria - The South African Government has taken note of comments made by
President George W Bush urging South Africa to assist the people of Iraq in
finding reconciliation among themselves.

At this stage, the South African Government has not yet received any formal
request from either the United States (US) or the Iraqi governments to this
effect. As soon as such a request is received the South African Government will
consider the matter on its merits.
