Reverend Chikane to welcome first group of candidates with
disabilities to an electronic media training programme

The Director-General in the Presidency, Reverend Frank Chikane, and the
Ambassador of the Government of Flanders, Mr Yves Wantens, will today, Monday,
6 November, officially welcome disabled students who are attending the
electronic media training programme at the National Electronic Media Institute
of South Africa (NEMISA).

The training programme is part of the project implemented by the Office on
the Status of Disabled Persons (OSDP) in The Presidency, and funded by the
Government of Flanders.

Forty candidates with disabilities will be trained in: Television
Production, Radio Production, Web Site Design and Computer Animation. On
completion of their training The Presidency in partnership with NEMISA will
seek ways of placing the candidates in internship programmes within the media
industry.
