Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Mr Firoz Cachalia, will visit the Sandton
Police Station tomorrow, 28 July, to congratulate the police on their
breakthrough in arresting the âSandton knife gangâ as they have been
dubbed.
The MECâs visit forms part of his support programme for the six months plan
announced earlier this month to deal with crime in the province. The MEC will
also be briefed on police plans to strengthen security on the Rivonia off-ramp
along the N1 which has recently seen some violent attacks on motorists. He will
also visit the off-ramp in person to see what needs to be done to strengthen
safety on that road.
