The MEC for Community Safety in Gauteng, Firoz Cachalia, has congratulated
the police for re-arresting the alleged Sandton knife gang leader William
Lehasa, who escaped from the Wynberg Magistrate court last week.
"I am ecstatic at the speedy re-arrest of the alleged gang leader and I want
to congratulate the police on a job well done," said Cachalia. Welcoming the
news that the suspect is behind bars the MEC said that the Sandton community
must be relieved, especially the victims of the gang, as the news that he was
outside might have caused panic and anxiety. He also said that he was satisfied
that the police are doing all they can to re-arrest the other member who is
still at large.
