F Cachalia to commemorate Women's Month , 17 Aug

Gauteng MEC of Community Safety Cachalia to commemorate women’s
month 50th anniversary

Gauteng Department of Community Safety MEC Firoz Cachalia will commemorate
the 50th anniversary of the women’s march tomorrow. The commemoration will
start at 07h00 - 09h00 with 250 female officers marching and a float of South
African Police Service (SAPS), traffic officers from the three Metros, local
authorities and district municipalities vehicles driven by female officers,
departing from Beyers Naudé Square (Library Gardens) then march to
Constitutional Hill where they will hand in a pledge to the MEC.

Later on between 09h00 and 12h00 the MEC, accompanied by Provincial
Commissioner and Chiefs of Metros (Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni), will
precede to the road block sites in the four clusters of the Gauteng regions,
that is South, North, West and East clusters.

From 13h00 - 16h00 the programme will end with a luncheon at Liban
Conference Centre with motivational speakers to encourage female officers to
continue with the struggle of fighting crime as well as acknowledging their
bravery.
