"The allocations in the Horse Mackerel sector have to be
amended"

10 October 2006

"The allocations in the Horse Mackerel sector have to be amended." Foodcorp
(Pty) Ltd informed the Delegated Authority for the Horse Mackerel sector, Dr
Monde Mayekiso, on 28 September 2006, that an error had been made in relation
to the score allocated to Foodcorp for investment in total assets. Foodcorp's
claim of R414,9175 per ton allocated was accepted in the rights allocation
process, but was incorrectly reduced to R0 investment per ton allocated on
appeal.

The Delegated Authority and the Minister instructed that the matter be
investigated. It appeared that an error resulted in the claims of Foodcorp for
investment not being recognised. The Delegated Authority and the Minister then
sought legal advice on whether the allocations may be amended in order to
rectify the mistake. The advice obtained was to the effect that the allocation
may be amended.

In the result, the percentile rankings, in respect of investment, and
therefore the points allocated to the applicant in this sector have been
adjusted slightly. The allocations to the other applicants have been reduced
slightly to accommodate Foodcorp's increase in quantum.

Applicants that have already collected their permits will be required to
return these permits and collect revised permits based on the revised quantum
allocation. Permits that have not already been collected will be issued in
terms of the revised allocations.
