Education hosts Conference of Ministers of Education of African Union, 6
to 10 Aug

South Africa to host the Conference of the Ministers of
Education of the African Union, 6 to 10 August 2007, Sandton,
Johannesburg

4 August 2007

The Third Ordinary Session of the Conference of the Ministers of Education
of the African Union (COMEDAF III) is scheduled to take place from 6 to 10
August 2007 at the Grayston Hotel, Sandton in Johannesburg.

The Meeting is expected to be attended by over 200 delegates, comprising
Ministers of Education of the African Union, international organisations and
education experts from across the globe.

Amongst key issues for discussion, is the Second Decade of Education for
Africa, which was launched by the African Union in 2006.

The Meeting will discuss the following issues:

* follow up mechanisms and strategic partnerships for the implementation of
the plan of action for the Second Decade of Education for Africa
* the establishment of an African Education Fund
* strategies for Technical and Vocation Education and Training, Teacher
Education and Higher Education.

Media is invited to the opening session on Monday, 6 August 2007 at 08h00.
