The Deputy Director General (DDG) for General Education and Training, Mrs
Palesa Tyobeka, will speak at a Teacher Recruitment Campaign programme at the
Tshwane University of Technology (South Campus - Student Centre) in Pretoria,
on Wednesday, 20 June, 2007, at 11h00.
The DDG, will talk to students about the Fundza Lushaka ('Teach the Nation')
Bursary Programme and the commitment of teachers.
The objectives of the campaign are to:
* mobilise students of high academic promise and commitment to undertake
initial professional education for teaching
* increase the pool of highly qualified teachers in priority areas
* promote teaching as a challenging and professionally rewarding career of
choice for the best and the brightest of our citizens
* encourage education students to keep their passion for the teaching
profession.
The first Teacher Recruitment Campaign programme was held at the University
of Limpopo in March 2007. The campaign will run at all South African
universities.
