The Department of Education to host Human Rights and Diversity
Training Campaign

The Department of Education (DoE) will host the Human Rights and Diversity
Training for School Governing Bodies (SGBs) at Kedar Country Lodge, Rustenburg
in North West province from Thursday, 22 February to Friday, 23 February
2007.

The Human Rights and Diversity Training workshop is an initiative by the DoE
to promote the sixteen key strategies of the manifesto on Values in Education
and Democracy to both school governing bodies (SGBs) and departmental officials
at schools. The aim is to re-skill school governing bodies to govern in a
changing schooling and social context as well as to assisting them to deal with
issues of diversity and the promotion of values that reflect human rights
democracy and peace within the schooling system.
