SAPS and Education Department tackling crime prevention at
schools: Launch of a Drug Reduction Programme

In a joint venture, the South African Police Service in conjunction with the
Department of Education and Business against Crime will be launching a drug
reduction programme at the Garsfontein High School in Pretoria on Thursday, 25
May 2006.

It is seen as an innovative initiative between various stakeholders to join
forces in the fight against substance abuse that will be rolled out all over
the country to reach as many learners as possible.

Among the dignitaries who will attend the event is the Deputy Minister for
Safety and Security, the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, the Gauteng MEC for
Education as well as senior officials of the South African Police Service and
Education Department.

A photo session will be granted on request.
