On Friday, 24 March 2006, the MEC for Safety, Liaison, Roads and Transport,
Mr Thobile Mhlahlo, announced in the Provincial Legislature in Bhisho the
increase of vehicle license and miscellaneous fees by 10% as from 1 April
2006.
This will assist the province to catch up with other provinces in terms of
these fees. It means fees for personalised and specific number plates will
increase from R1 950 and R550 to R2 118 and R606 respectively.
The motor vehicle license feesâ increase will be determined by the weight of
that particular vehicle.
