Bhisho, Eastern Cape - The Eastern Cape Department of Health's Customer Care
Directorate is going to host a Batho Pele Workshop from the 25 to 26 October
2007 at the East London Health Resource Centre.
This follows a survey conducted by the Directorate in six Health Districts
using the 'Batho Pele' rapid appraisal tool which showed that the internal
customers did not understand the role played by the Customer Care Directorate
within the department.
The wrong perception of the role of the Directorate led to it being
associated with investigation of complaints which was not the case.
Being influenced by the situation above, the Customer Care Directorate
thought it was necessary to conduct an internal Batho Pele Workshop as their
focus had always been on external customers.
This workshop will assist the department in the mainstreaming of Batho Pele
centrally and cascading it down to the health facilities.
The theme of the workshop is: 'People First - Let us come and equip one
another.' 'Abantu Kuqala-Yizani Sixhobisane.'
