Bhisho - Eastern Cape young health professionals and young employees would
be gathered at Mt Fletcher from 12 to 15 June 2006, rendering services at five
clinics and a hospital in the area to commemorate 16 June.
They would be embarking on a June Youth Month âIlima Projectâ aimed at
accelerating service delivery in the rural Mt Fletcher area.
The area is directly affected by the severe shortage of health professionals
especially nurses and doctors. At least five clinics and a hospital have been
identified and these professionals will render services like patient
consultation, dispensing drugs, referring patients, training community health
workers on drug adherence and counselling.
During this four-day project another group will be working at Taylor Bequest
Hospital, where there will be grass cutting and painting of paediatric
ward.
On the last day of the project, Eastern Cape Health MEC Mrs Nomsa Jajula is
expected to address the youth from surrounding communities.
