E Surty and A Motsoaledi to open computer and science laboratories in
Limpopo schools, 17 Nov

The Deputy Minister of Education, E Surty, to open science
laboratories in Limpopo schools

15 November 2006

The Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Enver Surty, and the Limpopo MEC for
Education, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, will officially open computer and science
laboratories in four schools in Venda on Friday, 17 November 2006.

The laboratories are a joint initiative of the Department of Education, Absa
Bank and Kagiso Trust. Kagiso Trust, through its Beyers Naude Schools
Development Programme, aims to restore the culture of learning and teaching at
schools.

The official openings are intended to highlight the need for mathematics,
science and technology education in the country, specifically in rural and
underprivileged areas, as these have the lowest number of trained black
professionals in engineering, medicine and other fields which have mathematics
and science at the core of their practices.

The visits will start at Lwamondo Secondary School and move on to the other
schools.
