Pens for Africa to donate stationery to needy schools

The Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Enver Surty, together with the Gauteng
MEC for Education, Ms Angelina Motshekga, and the representatives of BIC South
Africa, will on Tuesday, 18 April 2006, at 09h30, officially hand over piles of
stationery to needy learners at the Boschkop Primary Farm School, East of
Pretoria.

The official hand-over ceremony follows the Memorandum of Understanding
signed between the Department of Education and BIC South Africa in 2004, in
which the latter was to place collection bins at selected retail outlets
throughout the country, for the community to donate all sorts of stationery
items.

The items were to be distributed to all needy Grade R – 3 classes in the
country.

Hundreds of learners from Boschkop Primary Farm school alone and thousands
others from neighbouring schools and countywide will benefit from the
event.
